Well said, Mr. and Mrs. Puersten, re: current High Falls Road project.
It couldn’t be more obvious that an extension of sidewalk/bike path be foremost in council’s plan continued on from McNabb subdivision to High Falls Road.
Have they considered one kilometre farther up Manitoba Street to Lone Pine Drive, the original Kings highway known as highway 11?
Given the fact the road surface’s life expired about 12 years ago, the new cloverleaf going in at South Mary Lake Road, Stephenson Road 2 will be closed, Stephenson Road 1 will get a flyover like at Fraserburg Road. A 200-home subdivision is just waiting to start in the east side of Stephenson Road 1. The traffic added to not-so-lonely Lone Pine Drive will be huge.
I have lived on Lone Pine Drive for five years now, as well spent many years with friends in my youth visiting on Lone Pine Drive, which was unpaved at the time.
The number of new homes being constructed on Lone Pine Drive has been about five or more houses per year for years (I am one of them), where are all of the incredibly high development fees for two levels of rural governance going?
Any given weekday or weekend there are groups two to 10 cyclists going along the road. This spring brought potholes again large enough to lose small children. The usual spot patching was increased this year with tons of asphalt strewn about, making the original king’s highway resemble its original self as a corduroy road.
Given all of the development and future flyover traffic, please consider “not so lonely” Lone Pine Drive for much-needed repair.
P.S. We too have the Trans Canada Trail; ever tried to get through it?
