It was 50 years ago on Oct. 27, 1958 that the current Bracebridge Public School building was officially opened. For that reason, the BPS school council has named 2008 the “Year of Jubilee” for BPS.
This year the school will celebrate the past and present traditions and accomplishments of staff and students that have called BPS their home.
Festivities to take place in fall 2008 are currently in the planning stage. The school hopes to provide a venue that engages the community and gives both past and present staff and students the opportunity to reminisce and compare their school days at BPS.
If you or someone you know has a BPS connection, come to a planning meeting, which is open to the public, on Monday, May 12 at 7 p.m. in the school library. The school wants to hear your ideas on how to celebrate its Year of Jubilee. Questions or comments can also be sent to the school council at bpsjubilee@cogeco.ca.
