Viola Priddle passed away on Sept. 23 at the Pines Nursing Home, Bracebridge.
She is survived by her daughter Lois Jean (Charlie) Shapcott, granddaughters Cathy (Bruce) Insley, Susan (Bob) Cunningham, great-grandchildren Braden and Jill Insley, Cheryl, Coral and Rob Cunningham, great-great-granddaughter Katie Read, and her sister Dorothy Watson. She was predeceased by her parents Alf and Ady McCullough, her husband Gavin Howard Priddle (1984), her sisters Jean McCullough and Marjory Wake and her brother Lloyd McCullough.
Born in Markdale, Viola attended school in Markdale and Dundalk. Over the years, she lived in Markdale, Dundalk, Creemore, Barrie and Gravenhurst. She worked as a department store clerk. A 50-year certificate was presented to her from Barrie Central United Church. An avid knitter, she completed many projects for Barrie Central United Church and Royal Victoria Hospital.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 1 at Badjeros United Church with Rev. Heather McCarrel officiating. Interment was at Union Cemetery in Badjeros. Ash bearer was Brent Watson; flower bearers were Cathy Insley and Susan Cunningham.
