September 15, 1946 — October 17, 2007
Wayne Garnet Duncan passed peacefully at home after a lengthy battle with cancer on Oct. 10 at the age of 61.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 29 years, Lynda Fitchett (Brooks), his mother Elaine Duncan, siblings Sue Duncan (Ted Morrison), Judith Duncan-Mulvihill (Mike Mulvihill) and Michael Duncan (Jackie Gross), and his daughters Annette Belanger (Keith Whent), Angela Conway (J.P. St-Louis) and Amy Fitchett (Robert Joslin).
Grandpa will be sadly missed by his nine grandchildren, Krystal and Eric Belanger, Bailey Murray, Chantelle and Michaela Conway, and Zachary, Bradley, Maxwell and Ruby Joslin.
Wayne was predeceased by his father Garnet Duncan and his brother Roger Dainard.
Wayne was born in Toronto on Sept. 15, 1946, the son of a Canadian Air Force serviceman.
Born into a large family, Wayne was the oldest of the Duncan children. He attended school in Gimli, Manitoba.
Following in his parents footsteps, Wayne enlisted in the Canadian Naval Reserve in Toronto.
The Duncan family migrated to Muskoka in 1970, settling in Bracebridge. Muskoka had much to offer to a man like Wayne who enjoyed camping with his family, fishing and hunting with family and friends, and painting and sketching at his leisure.
Wayne met Lynda in 1978 after an introduction by Wayne’s friend and Lynda’s brother Kenny Brooks.
In the years to come, Wayne would prove to be a good husband, supportive father and loving grandpa, often affectionately referred to as Grumpa.
After 25 years of employment with Alcan Wire and Cable, Wayne was fortunate enough to retire and enjoy his many friends and loving family.
Wayne was a unique man who will be greatly missed and always remembered.
