In memory of Lemuel David “Lem” Scott who passed away peacefully at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital on October 11, 2007 in his 57th year following a long illness bravely and valiantly fought.

He was born in Bracebridge, the second child of Ollie and Doreen Scott (Mills). He was the last of six, including his grandfather, to carry the biblical name within our family.

After obtaining his primary and secondary education in Bracebridge, he graduated as a forestry technician from Sault College in Sault Ste. Marie in 1973. He commenced a 31-year career with the Ontario Ministry of the Environment and was passionate about improving the environment and the future well-being of Ontario and Muskoka. His legacy to his family and the citizens of Ontario is the numerous waterways, habitat and wildlife that have been brought back to health through his part in the hard work of rehabilitation and research.

He was an accomplished builder of homes and furnishings and a loyal friend to many. Numerous finished dwellings and furnishings attest to his skill and giving nature to always lend a hand to those in need.

He will be sadly missed and never forgotten by his mother Doreen (late Ollie), brother Rick, sisters Marilyn Jessome (Allan), Anne Carroll Valic (John), nieces Laura (Paul Young), Heather Jessome, Jessica Valic and nephew Matthew Valic and his canine buddy Pilgrim.

The family received friends and family at the Reynolds Funeral Home Turner Chapel in Bracebridge followed by his funeral on October 13, 2007, with Reverend Nancy Knox officiating. Interment will follow at a later date in Bracebridge.

As your expression of sympathy, memorial donation to the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, CT scanner, would be greatly appreciated.

“I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7. Rest in peace, beloved one.
