The Bracebridge Business Improvement Area (BIA) has named the winner of its “We need a Jingle” contest. The contest, which ran the month of August, required the applicants to write, perform and record a 30-second jingle promoting the shops, services and restaurants that are located along Manitoba Street and the surrounding side streets.
“The contest was a huge success. We received 11 completed jingles from all over Muskoka, and even included a submission from local country artist Deric Ruttan and wife Margaret Finlay,” said Tracy Larkman, BIA administrative co-ordinator.
The contest concluded Aug. 27 at which time the BIA board of directors reviewed and voted on a winner.
The jingles were narrowed down to three applicants but in the end Torin MacPherson’s jingle “My Muskoka’s Downtown” was the unanimous winner, said Mae Brazier, BIA president. “It is upbeat and catchy and exactly what the BIA was looking for.”
MacPherson and Kathleen Bolger, who performed the jingle, received $1,000 in BIA gift certificates, which they will be using at many of the stores, services and restaurants located within the BIA boundaries.
