The Bracebridge culture and recreation committee is recommending the tender for snowplowing at the Bracebridge Sportsplex be awarded to DB Enterprises.

Tenders were submitted by DB Enterprises, Fowler Construction Company Limited, P. Medley and Sons Limited, Wes Finch and Sons Excavating Ltd. and J.A.C. Property Management.

DB Enterprises submitted the lowest price for snowclearing but the highest price for the periodic removing of accumulated snow. The prices given for each clearing at the sportsplex were $172.44 by DB Enterprises, $268 by Fowler Construction, $460 by P. Medley and Sons, $329 by Wes Finch and Sons, and $304.20 by J.A.C.

“We priced it out based on 20 clearings, 30 sandings and three removals,” said culture and recreation manager Leo Broere. “The current budget for snowplowing at the sportsplex is $16,200. Based on the estimated number of clearings and sandings, the current budget allocation should be adequate.”

Separate prices were given for clearing the Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary School property.

“The town has no experience with DB Enterprises but Trillium Lakelands District School Board does,” said Broere.
