Forum on workforce this Thursday
Nov 28, 2007

On behalf of its Passport to Prosperity Campaign, the Muskoka, Nipissing, Parry Sound Local Training and Adjustment Board (LTAB) is pleased to be hosting an Employer Resource Forum titled “Who is Going To Work For You In the Next Ten Years?”

This session is designed for employers who are interested in learning more about today’s youth and providing workplace learning opportunities for local students. The session will be held on Thursday, Nov. 29 at the Mark O’Meara Clubhouse at the Delta Grandview Resort in Huntsville from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The forum will feature guest speaker Max Valiquette, whose expertise makes him one of the most sought-after speakers on youth and pop culture in Canada today. Host of several television and radio shows, Valiquette has been featured in virtually every national media outlet in Canada. The forum will also feature a panel of speakers consisting of local individuals who have been closely involved in various school-work experiences including local employer Chuck McNairn of Chuck McNairn Electric Ltd., a local high school student, a parent and several educators.

“The Employer Resource Forum is a direct result of the input we received at our annual Trends, Opportunities and Priorities (TOP) consultation session,” said LTAB executive director Stacie Fiddler. “Youth out migration has been a local and northern priority for several years now,” said Fiddler, “and providing an opportunity for employers, educators and students to discuss the benefits of developing relationships early on was one of the opportunities for action listed in the board’s TOP report.”

LTAB’s Passport to Prosperity Campaign is funded by the Ministry of Education and promotes the fostering of relationships between employers and students in order that youth can make a successful transition between school and the workplace.
