Dec 05, 2007

As police continue their investigation of an armed robbery at a Township of Georgian Bay smoke shop, they are seeking information on a small, silver car that was seen in the vicinity.

The car was seen driving slowly past the entrance of the store shortly before the robbery, but it is not known if it was involved.

On Dec. 1 at approximately 5:20 p.m., two armed suspects allegedly entered the “Cheap Smokes” shop located on Muskoka Road 38, Wahta Mohawk Territory.

Police say the men allegedly displayed a handgun and after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes, fled in an unknown vehicle.

No shots were fired and there were no injuries.

Ontario Provincial Police from Bracebridge detachment and members of the Muskoka Crime Unit arrived on the scene and conducted a search but did not find any suspects.

Both men are described as being Caucasian, in their mid-20s with an average and slim build. They were both wearing dark jackets and dark toques. One suspect was approximately five feet 10 inches tall and the other was slightly shorter.

Several large, clear plastic bags, each containing 200 cigarettes were allegedly stolen.

The OPP is interested in speaking with any witnesses to this robbery. Anyone with information is asked to contact Bracebridge OPP at 645-2211 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
