A late night ride turned deadly over the weekend
after three Muskoka residents died when their snowmobiles went into the waters
of Lake of Bays.
Police say sometime before midnight on Feb. 8,
three people on two snowmobiles left the County Road #117 area and were heading
toward Baysville.
Huntsville OPP were alerted of the missing riders
at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, and spent the day searching for them.
Two bodies were found, but the search was
suspended around 7 p.m. due to poor lighting conditions.
At around 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10, the third
body was located.
The three male victims have been identified as
Norman MacDonald, 37, of Lake of Bays, Derek Genereux, 20, of Lake of Bays
and Leslie Newman, 24, of Baysville.
Huntsville OPP are continuing their investigation.
