Put a hold on spending and don’t raise taxes
Feb 27, 2008

To rural taxpayers and councillors of Bracebridge.

Since returning to Muskoka to retire in 2002, our taxes have continued to rise. For these taxes we receive garbage collection and our road is plowed (the men do an excellent job).

We have our own water and septic systems which we pay for and maintain. We spend more on gas to shop in town and we’re penalized by our home insurance because we are so far from the fire hall.

What is this council thinking when their answer to everything is “raise  taxes”. We’re not made of money folks, stop the spending. You spend money that we don’t have and now you want us to pay for something we don’t use. I don’t think so. It is hard enough to pay taxes when you’re on a fixed income. How do young families ever manage?

I would like to see this council work toward bringing industry into this area and put a hold on spending our tax dollars.
