Sarah Ridgley of Bracebridge will be competing at the CCA/CIS National University Curling Championships in Guelph from March 12-16.
A three-year member of the Trent University varsity women’s curling team, Ridgley will be playing lead in the championships.
Ridgley was a valuable member in Trent’s bronze-medal finish at the Ontario Provincial Championships (OUA) where she was honoured with the All-Star second award and the All Canadian Academic Award for academic and athletic excellence.
Seventeen women’s teams from across Canada will be bidding for the opportunity to represent Canada at the World Winter Universiade in China. Trent University is a competition favourite in the championships.
With the round robin commencing on Wednesday afternoon, Trent University will compete against the University of Alberta. The team will be participating in meetings and press conferences prior to the opening game.
Ridgley was a member of the South Muskoka Curling & Golf Club for nine years. A graduate of Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary School, she is now enrolled in the Queen’s/Trent University concurrent educational degree program.
