Charlie Greaves died in Bracebridge on March 2, 2008.

He is survived by his wife Jacinthe Lessard and daughters Christina Greaves and Melissa Greaves.

Charlie was born in Huntsville on Oct. 7, 1949. His family moved to Bracebridge while he was still very young. He worked at the A&P in Bracebridge for 19 years as produce manager and then in small claims court, Bracebridge before becoming sheriff’s officer for Muskoka and Simcoe County, a position he that he loved and held for 15 years.

In 1981, he married Jacinthe Lessard, who now works as an education assistant at Monck Public School. They had two daughters. Christina, 24, is living in Kingston and working as a correctional officer at Kingston Penitentiary. Melissa, 21, is in her fourth year at the University of Toronto.

Charlie was an enthusiastic woodworker, building furniture, lamps and shelves. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, gardening, fishing and boating. He always kept the yard immaculate.

He could often be found helping his neighbours and friends fix and construct things, roofing, splitting wood, working on renovations and helping them in the garden. Charlie loved spending time with his family and friends, cooking and playing cards. Travelling was also an important part of his life with family trips to Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head, Florida, Maine, Bahamas, Kingston, Toronto and California.

A funeral service was held at Bracebridge United Church on March 7, 2008.
