On March 18, the Probus Club of Gravenhurst celebrated its fifth anniversary to the day and hour of its founding at the Gravenhurst Opera House with highlights of the events that led to founding of the club and its many activities.
Barb McCabe spoke to the formation of the club as an offshoot of Rotary as a club for retired and semi-retired business people who come together for learning and social activities.
McCabe and Rotarian Gary Taylor, who were both instrumental in getting the club started, cut the cake to celebrate the day.
The founding members and the 2003 executive were honoured.
A resounding version of Happy Birthday was sung by the 111 people present.
Probus Club of Gravenhurst has grown from an original group of 58 to its present membership of 250, with a waiting list reflecting the need for the club in the community.
