March 28 through April: KARAOKE CONTEST, $1000 first prize. Qualifying rounds 10 to 11 p.m. every Friday and Saturday at the Purple Pig. Registration $5 per singer.

March 31: MASK MAKING FOR WOMEN with Fay Wilkinson, 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., Daphne’s Drop In, Women’s Resource Centre, 29 Manitoba St. Info: 646-2122.

March 27: USED BOOK SALE hosted by the hospital auxiliary, 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. in the SMMH lobby. Hundreds of books, both hard covers and paperbacks, as well as a limited selection of videos, puzzles and games. Low prices. Free parking for shoppers provided at the hospital.

March 27: BRACEBRIDGE GIRLS MINOR HOCKEY will be playing their FIRST EVER HOME GAME, 6 to 7 p.m. at Bracebridge Memorial Arena against Sundridge. Come out and support the team on this historic occasion!

April 2: SOUP KETTLE, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Bracebridge United Church auditorium. Everything is homemade.

April 2: The CANADIAN FEDERATION OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN – MUSKOKA meets the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in Bracebridge United Church. Info: 687-2157.

March 29: Join Wayde Foss & Marilyn Crewe from MISSION PARTNERS INTERNATIONAL at Calvary Baptist Church (across from Giant Tiger) to learn about lifestyles in the countries of the former Soviet Union as well as practical ways that anyone can help to show them God’s love: 9 to 10 a.m. Ladies Coffee & Muffins with Marilyn Crewe; 2 to 4 p.m. Kids Encounter, including interactive games, fun activities and snacks for ages 7 to 13; 7 to 9:30 p.m. Youth Event with interactive games, challenging activities and snacks for Grade 9 & up. Everyone welcome to this free event.

March 30: Join Wayde Foss & Marilyn Crewe from MISSION PARTNERS INTERNATIONAL at Calvary Baptist Church (across from Giant Tiger), 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., worship service with flag parade, a Soviet Union video and speaker; 12 to 12:30 p.m. question and answer session re mission trips, with light refreshments. Everyone welcome to this free event.

April 1: STORY & CRAFT FOR CHILDREN up to age 6, 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the library. Free. Register in person or call 687-3382.
