I find it interesting that the Town of Bracebridge was a big supporter to have Georgian College and soon-to-be Nipissing University move to their new location, yet since the move the town has become lax in their snow removal of this area.
This last snowstorm on Tuesday night saw no sidewalk clearing on Wellington Street on the college side.
For a community that is promoting sun, fun and getting out to enjoy the nature Muskoka has to offer, very little was done to assist those who walk in our community during the winter months of 2007-2008.
While there were questions raised by local residents on the sluggish manner in which road plowing was conducted this year, at least they got plowed; sidewalks however seem to have fallen to second place.
With the cost of living in Bracebridge rising and the lack of wages to compete, more and more individuals are forced to walk. It is a shame they must risk breakage to limbs to do so.
