June 1, 1925 - April 6, 2008
Shirley Jean Crisp (née Cooper) of Severn Bridge died April 6, 2008.
Shirley joins her childhood sweetheart Arthur Vane Crisp (1924-2002) to continue their lifetime romance together in a gentler place.
She is the sorely missed mother of Allan Lee Crisp and wife Christine Beasley Crisp of Severn Bridge. Blessed with her legacy is daughter Susan Ann Crisp of Toronto and inspired by their grandmother are Kirk Malcolm Crisp Kelly and Chad Arthur Crisp Kelly of Toronto. Shirley is sadly missed by surviving brother Bruce Cooper of California, as well as her many relatives and friends whose hearts she has touched these many years.
Shirley spent many years in the Etobicoke civil service before moving to Severn Bridge in the late 1960s after falling in love with the area while cottaging on Muldrew Lake. She and Arthur soon became active in their new community with the Severn Bridge Fair, Morrison Pioneer Club, running the Hobby and Record Store in Orillia, as a contributing author to the Gravenhurst Banner, member of Sparrow Lake United Church, lifetime member Severn Bridge Women’s Institute and as a local councillor and district councillor.
Cremation was by Doolittle Funeral Homes with a private family internment.
Donations were requested by Shirley to the Salvation Army in gratitude for their kind and supportive contribution to our family.
A life celebration and get-together is being held Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Women’s Institute Hall, Severn Bridge. For information call Betty Moase, 705-689-2492.
