Muskoka Tourism Marketing Agency (MTMA) has hired a new executive director to help lead the organization in making Muskoka one of Ontario’s top tourism destinations.
Michael Lawley, the current executive director for Tourism Sarnia/Lambton, will take on the new role for MTMA effective April 21.
He will be formally introduced to the agency’s volunteer board April 23.
Lawley will replace former MTMA general manager Robyn Scott, who abruptly resigned from the Gravenhurst-based tourism outfit in January after more than three years of heading the agency.
Gary Froude, MTMA chairman, said Muskoka Tourism conducted an extensive search for a new leader and feels Lawley is the perfect fit.
“The experience, skill set and knowledge of Muskoka that Michael has to offer made his selection a perfect one for our future,” said Froude in a statement issued Thursday.
Lawley reportedly has 15 years of experience at the senior management level, including positions with the Ontario Ministry of Tourism.
