August 25, 1923 – December 31, 2007
On December 31, 2007 at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, Milton Orval Forth passed away.
Born August 25, 1923 at Falkenburg to Frederick Forth and Martha Emery, Milton was raised at the Falkenburg family farm.
He served overseas in England with the Canadian Army during the Second World War where he met Doris Joan Day. They were married on October 6, 1945 in London, England. They returned to Canada and started a life together in Toronto. Not liking the city, they moved to Bracebridge, building their home in Falkenburg and began raising their family.
Over his life, Milton worked as a logger, boat builder and retired from Lang Fuels as a furnace oil burner technician. He was an avid gardener, outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman, trapper, five-pin bowler and horseshoe player. He loved making maple sugar and cutting wood and could carry a pretty good tune on the violin (fiddle). He especially liked Don Messer. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 161.
To Milt, family was everything. He was predeceased by brothers Charles, Audrey, Claude and Woodrow, sister Velma Blanchard and son Joel. His surviving brother Monte will sadly miss him.
He is survived by Doris, his wife of 62 years. He was her friend and companion.
Wayne (Audrey), Gail (Patrick Dikkes), June (William Cairns), Mark (Cindy), Craymer (Penny) and Penny-Ann will miss their dad’s care and wisdom.
Grandchildren Shawn Forth, Catherine Janke (Mark), Kurtis, Tyler and Michael Cairns, Marcie and Marianna Forth, Michael Rickett, Nicole (Trevor Meilke), Christopher Forth and great-grandchild Kryslyn Anesty will miss Papa.
Milton has been cremated and interment will be in late spring at the Bracebridge Municipal Cemetery.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, April 19 at 11 a.m. at the Salvation Army Church. The service will be conducted by Captain Chris Rideout. Honorary pallbearers will be nieces and nephews Rod Forth, Jean Sherman, Paul Forth, Terry Blanchard, Vicky Monroe and Walter Forth.
