A Gravenhurst man facing child pornography charges is out on bail following a hearing in Bracebridge on Friday.Tarig “Ty” Bur will appear in Bracebridge court again on April 29 to face charges including one count of luring a child, one count of possession of child pornography and one count of distribution of child pornography.
Bur was arrested and charged on April 8 following a 10-month child Internet luring investigation involving members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Pornography Section, OPP Bracebridge Detachment, and the Muskoka OPP Crime Unit with assistance from the Vancouver Internet Child Exploitation Unit.
Police say a search warrant executed at the accused’s Gravenhurst residence resulted in the seizure of one computer system and over 300 CD-ROMs that police say contain images of child sexual abuse and alleged evidence of Internet luring of a child.
A Section 517 publication ban has been issued on the proceedings, and no further details will be revealed to the public at this time.
The ban is temporary, in that it extends until the accused is discharged after the preliminary inquiry or the trial is completed, subject to any other court orders.
