It only took three games for the West Muskoka Ring Rats petite “C” ringette team to clinch the regional championship. Whitby and Pickering were the only two teams left standing in the way of a great season and West Muskoka handled them easily.
West Muskoka played Pickering first and beat them 9-3. Andrea Jacobs opened the scoring three minutes in with a quick wrist shot.
“It was a balanced attack with nearly everyone contributing,” remarked coach Mitch Kacsmar. Madison Kacsmar netted two goals and added an assist, Ali Nelson and Olivia Franks scored twice, Shannon Conners supplied one goal and added a couple of helpers, Sage Strength scored once and assisted, while Tait Strength assisted on one.
In the second game against Whitby Wild, Sage Strength and Kacsmar stole the show. Strength ended up with three goals and four assists. Kacsmar also netted three goals and added three assists. Franks added two assists and Jacobs added one. West Muskoka beat Whitby 7-5.
In the final game West Muskoka faced Pickering for the championship. West Muskoka went on to win 5-2. This game saw five different scorers and they were Franks, Sage Strength, Conner, Kacsmar and Jacobs, while Nelson, Conners and Kacsmar all added an assist. Riley Morrow played outstanding in net for all three games. Carly Quinton played aggressively at forward and Kendra Sherman played great on defence and nearly scored in the final game.
The West Muskoka petite “C” had a very successful season. They won the league championship, the St. Catharines Invitational and finished the year winning regionals, but most importantly the girls had a lot of fun along the way.
