Shame on Gord Adams for blaming the cottage associations for the water and sewer cost. Who is running this district? Stand up and take the blame for this mess we are in.
(District commissioner of finance and corporate services) Stephen Cairns comments that the lagoons are paid for by all taxpayers and the only ones using them are people who get their septics pumped.
We all paid for the one in Bracebridge and everyone uses it. The only ones using the treatment plants are the ones who are hooked to them.
Stephen Cairns needs to spend more time in his field of finances and tell the committee who can afford to pay this extra fee, which we don’t use.
We are not getting a free ride by living in the country. Gord Adams and some councillors believe that we are having a heyday out here.
Here are just a few facts:
1. Cost to drill a well - $7,000 to $10,000.
2. Septic cost $10,000 to $15,000.
3. UV light - $500 to $800.
4. Replacement bulb every year - $100.
5. Water filters - $150 per year.
6. Pumps - $500 to $800 - replaced every 10 years.
7. Septic pumping every four years - $160.
When my water main breaks, the district wants to send me a water and sewer bill every month; good luck at receiving the payment.
I just don’t have any more money to give.
